The Arovane Sound

Arovane's sound can be characterized as ethereal, intellectually melodic, organic, warm and ambient yet technically involved with structured, often heavy, breakbeat and hip hop influenced beats. It is richly layered with synths and textured distortions and focuses more on generating a melancholy nostalgic feeling than four-on-the-floor dance beats....   1 2

...Walkin The Park...

EMTIDI was a German duo stuck somewhere between the Kosmische and psychedelic movements stylistically. Despite having only two members a full sound is provided, as Maik Hirschfeldt provides guitars, flute, some keyboards and vocals while Dolly Holmes is charged with lead vocals and most of the keyboard work.
First album's first side contains fragile naive acid folk, the second side is quiet good with also a more stoned track, "Let the joint go round", a dreamy track, "Yvonne's Dream" and a nice longer "flutepiece". Their second album, "Saat" with lots of mellotron, a prog item with pastoral folk feel is a classic.....

RIP, Vivian "Yabby You" Jackson

(14 August 1946–12 January 2010)

Yabby You was born Vivian Jackson in a Kingston ghetto. By the time he was 17, Jackson was so malnourished that he had to be hospitalized. He eventually left with severe arthritis and crippled legs. While he could not work, he had musical talent and taking his cues from divine inspiration that he feels comes from the sounds of nature around him, and the help of friends founded a harmony trio, the Prophets, in 1972. They made their single debut with "Conquering Lion," a classically styled reggae song with a deeply personal message. They made a few more singles and eventually they all appeared on Jackson's debut album, Conquering Lion. Throughout the decade, he recorded frequently on his Prophets labels. He was closely affiliated with King Tubby, whose dubs often appeared on the B-sides of Jackson's singles. It was Tubby who gave Jackson his famous nickname Yabby You. Some of Yabby You's better-known albums from this period include Deliver Me from My Enemies (1977) and Chant Down Babylon Kingdom.

Woob 1194

Woob (A.K.A Woob 1194) was the debut self-titled album of British soundtrack and ambient musician Paul Frankland. It was recorded over the span of two months and was released in the summer of 1994 on Em:t Records. It was also re-released in late 1994 on Instinct Records in the United States. It was Em:t's second release and is considered today to be a classic ambient album, and enormously influential.
The album blends together elements of ambient, dub, and world music into long pieces, combined with samples from field recordings, movies and television shows such as Quantum Leap and Star Trek. The cover art depicts several Emperor Penguins in the wild, and they can also be heard near the end of final track of the album, "Emperor".
1194 is probably the most well-known release on the Em:t label, and is sought after by collectors even today. It still appears on many "all-time best-of" lists of ambient albums, along with the likes of Biosphere's Substrata, Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume II and The Future Sound Of London's Lifeforms.

...strictly Dub...

Dub is either an instrumental subgenre of reggae music, or a separate genre of music that involves revisions of existing songs. The dub sound consists predominantly of instrumental remixes of existing recordings and is achieved by significantly manipulating and reshaping the recordings, usually by removing the vocals from an existing music piece, emphasizing the drum and bass parts or, in other words, 'riddim', adding extensive echo and reverb effects, panoramic LR delay, and dubbing occasional snippets of lyrics or instruments from the original version. Sometimes, dub also features melodica melody...

Everybody Needs....

Guardner...

Guardner aka Marcus Schmahl is back with his longawaited full length release „Someday (In My Life)“. The man who also received amazing support for his Rauschfaktor outfit with Frank R?ckert now graces Elektrolux with his first complete solo album under his Guardner guise. And he has definitely excelled himself with this beautiful collection of electronic shortstories! These twelve astonishing little gems showcase Guardner’s deep love for intense downtempo excursions as well as his sense for epic arrangements. As with his well received recent 12“, Guardner once again delivers incredible emotional landscapes, melodic electro pop and freestyle grooves that are sure to get under your skin. Beautiful melancholic motifs team up with great vocal pieces on top of some serious beat business, combining a rough downbeat and streetstyle flavour with heartwarming strings and mellow pianoparts. Guardner fuses old and new, and uses a wide and colourful spectrum of finest ingredients to create something really unique. „Someday (In my Life)“ is destined to go down by storm with all lovers of modern eclectic electronic music. A landmark release within the german history of electronic listening. Marcus Schmahls winning combination of rich musicality and deep chilling grooves never felt so good!
